We're Looking for 5 Design Partners

We’re not launching FaultFinder to the public first. We’re launching it to five people who will tell us everything we’re getting wrong.

What is a design partner?

A design partner is someone who uses the product on real vehicles, rates every diagnosis, and tells us — honestly — when the tool is wrong, slow, or confusing. In return, they get free hardware, free access, and a direct line to the team building it.

This isn’t a beta test where we hand you a finished product and ask for a star rating. This is a collaboration where your diagnostic scenarios drive what we build next.

Who we’re looking for

2–3 mobile or independent mechanics:

  • Solo or small-shop operators (2–5 people)
  • Currently using mid-tier scan tools (XTOOL D8S, MUCAR 892BT, Topdon AD600S, or similar)
  • Spending 15–45 minutes per ticket on diagnostic synthesis
  • Want faster, more confident diagnoses without $7K+ Snap-on/Autel pricing

2–3 DIY heavy users:

  • Own 1–3 vehicles, have used a $30–120 OBD2 dongle before
  • Have Googled a DTC code in the last 90 days
  • Active in communities like r/MechanicAdvice, GarageJournal, or BobIsTheOilGuy
  • Want more than code translation — want to know what’s actually wrong and what to do about it

What you get

  • Free BLE OBD2 dongle shipped to you (CAN + CAN-FD compatible)
  • Free full app access for the entire 90-day partner period
  • Early access to every new feature and diagnostic model update
  • Weekly 30-minute feedback call with the product team
  • Your diagnostic scenarios drive the roadmap — if you hit an edge case, we prioritize it
  • Named as a founding partner (with your permission) when we launch publicly

What we ask

  • Use FaultFinder on real vehicles — at least 3 diagnostic sessions per week
  • Rate every diagnosis: useful or not useful (one tap)
  • Join a 30-minute weekly call (voice or video, flexible scheduling)
  • Share the weird diagnostic scenarios — the ones we get wrong are the most valuable
  • Be honest. We need to know what’s broken before everyone else does.

The timeline

  • Now through Day 14: Recruiting and intro calls
  • Day 14–21: Hardware ships, onboarding complete
  • Day 21–90: Active partnership with weekly feedback loops
  • Day 30 checkpoint: All 5 partners confirmed and scanning regularly

After the program, you keep the hardware. We’ll offer continued free or discounted access, and if you’re a content creator who wants to do a proper integration — we’ll have that conversation, but only if you believe in the tool.

Interested?

Join the waitlist and mention “design partner” in any follow-up. Or email us directly at partners@faultfinder.ai with a short intro: what vehicles you work on, what tools you use now, and what frustrates you about diagnosis today.

We read everything.
